Mother & Daughter
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, March 2017
This painting is dealing with the mothers-daughters complex relationships.
On one hand there is love, unity and dependency and on the other hand, the wish of the daughter for independence, self determination and autonomy while the mother trying to preserve control and influence on the daughter that getting more and more looser as the daughter grows up.
This complexity is expressed in the painting by the position of the characters in which the daughter is already advanced forward while the mother left behind but in the same time still has her back (supporting her).
There's a question mark if the characters holding hands or already disconnected.
The mother has no mouth which symbolizes the daughter's lack of willingness to listen to her as she's growing up.
But nevertheless, the mother-daughter connection is not breakable as their bodies intertwined in an eternal bond.
The Listening
Oil on canvas, 70x60 cm, May 2017
This painting is called 'The listening' and not 'The conversation' because many times people don't really listen to each other during conversations but rather busy of expressing themselves or preparing an answer for the other side.
The most valuable conversation is when we truly listen to each other and mange to see through each other's eyes.
The Power Balance
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, May 2017
Sometimes the one who looks the biggest and strongest, is not necessarily the one who has the dominance in a relationship whether romantic or other.
Same as the small figure in the painting that has stronger presence and character than the bigger one behind her.
Unpleasant Discourse
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, Junuar 2017
The Inner Supervisor
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, February 2017
This painting is representing part of our being that seems to hover over us as a bird, supervise and criticise our thoughts and deeds.
It can be positive if it's constructive and lead us in the right direction or negative if it's overwhelms and paralyses us from taking decisions and acting.
Its affect determined by our relationship with this inner supervisor and our ability to use it effectively.
Brotherhood
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, March 2017
This painting is representing the importance of brotherhood. We don't choose our siblings but no matter how different they are from us, family bonds are important and stay for life.
Limitless Love
Oil on canvas, 50x60 cm, April 2017
When we truly love, our mind and inner sight is on the object of our love no matter where they are and even if we can't physically see them for periods of time.
In the painting this state is represented by a woman figure with both eyes on the side of her face that is turned to the bird like figure resting in her arm.
The Worn Out
Oil on canvas, 70x90 cm, May 2017
This painting is dealing with exhaustion of the soul.
The figure in the painting appears old and vulnerable though its age is not clear which indicates that its appearance is a result of state of mind rather than physical age.
It's walking stick is not an external aid appliance that provides physical support but something that is growing out of the figure's body reflecting the emotional need for support.
Beacon of Grace
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, May 2017
When we're in the darkest and deepest despair it's truly fortunate if we have someone or something that can lift us up, give us strength and hope to go on as a beacon of grace.
